On June 17, 2010, William Loiry and the Disaster Response Leadership Forum successfully held the first national Gulf Oil Spill Disaster Response Summit at the Mobile Convention Center in Mobile, Alabama. The Summit featured senior executives from BP; a senior EPA official; other federal, state, and local officials involved in the oil spill disaster response; private sector leaders with disaster response solutions; and many others with an interest in responding to the disaster. More than 250 leaders from throughout the United States were registered to attend. As a public service, Summit attendance was free.
